Pell Grants
With more changes to the federal government’s approach to education and the steadily worsening financial crisis, there are a lot of questions rolling around surrounding education financing. One of the main parts of President Obama’s education plan is to increase the Federal Pell Grant for college. That’s all well and good, but a number of future college students don’t even know what the Pell Grant is, nevertheless what the current limit is.
Former President George W Bush and Congress reduced the Federal Pell Grant in the early stages of 2005 and it had since been more difficult for students to attain and came with less money. President Obama said that he would increase the Pell Grant and make it easier for students who needed it to get. No numbers have yet surfaced about how much the Pell Grant will be worth now that Obama is President, but during his campaign he intimated that it would be similar to the numbers President Clinton kept it at.
